Jenny Ohlsson

Jenny Ohlsson (* 1974 or 1975) is a Swedish diplomat . She was the first Swedish ambassador to Rwanda .

Life

Jenny Ohlsson attended Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific in Victoria (British Columbia) from 1992 to 1994 and Uppsala University from 1998 to 2007 .

Diplomatic career

She began her diplomatic career in 2002. She worked in the Africa Department of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, in the Swedish Embassy in Pretoria , in the Swedish section office in Kigali (from 2007 to 2009) and as a policy advisor in the Foreign Ministry on disarmament and Somalia and in the Swedish State Council .

Sweden's diplomatic contact with Rwanda was established through the Swedish embassy in Nairobi and, most recently, Kampala ; the first Swedish representative in Rwanda resided in a hotel room in 1997. In 2016 a Swedish embassy was opened in Kigali. Jenny Ohlsson became the first Swedish ambassador to Rwanda in October 2016. Her appointment ended in 2019. Johanna Teague was announced as her successor in Rwanda in June 2020 .
