Jens Asendorpf

Jens Asendorpf (born October 26, 1950 in Marburg / Lahn) is a German psychologist .

Asendorpf studied mathematics and computer science from 1969 to 1973 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the TU Berlin . He then studied psychology from 1974 to 1978 at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Justus Liebig University of Gießen . He completed his doctoral studies in psychology at Yale University and the University of Giessen. From 1969 to 1981 he was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . From 1982 to 1994 Asendorpf worked at the Max Planck Institute for Psychological Research .

From 1994 to 2014 he was Professor of Personality Psychology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From 2005 to 2008 Asendorpf was editor of the European Journal of Personality Psychology. From 2008 to 2010 he was director of the Institute for Psychology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 2010 to 2012 Asendorpf was President of the European Association of Personality Psychology. He is editor of the field of personality psychology and differential psychology in the Lexikon der Psychologie (18th edition, 2017).

He has been retired since 2014. In 2016 Asendorpf received the Life-time Achievement Award from the European Association of Personality Psychology.
