Jens Braband

Jens Ernst Braband (* 1962 in Cuxhaven ) is a German mathematician and security researcher.

Life

From 1987 to 1992, Braband was a research assistant at the Institute for Mathematical Stochastics at the TU Braunschweig . In 1992 he did his doctorate under Rolf Schassberger on a topic from queuing theory . In 1993 he moved to Siemens AG in railway safety technology . In 2004 he was appointed honorary professor for risk and safety analysis of traffic systems by the TU Braunschweig .

Braband has made contributions to security research ( RAMS ) in numerous publications , in particular to the fundamentals of secure communication systems and risk analysis .

In 2007 he was awarded the Walter Masing Prize by the German Society for Quality Assurance for his fundamental work on explaining and eliminating weaknesses in risk priority numbers . These findings have led to adaptations of the method in some industries; a new method based on this was introduced in railway signaling technology with DIN VDE V 0831-103.
