Jens Kleinert

Jens Kleinert (* 1964 in Hilden ) is a German professor for sport and health psychology at the German Sport University Cologne , where he has been Vice-Rector for Teaching and Studies since May 20, 2014 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Kleinert studied sport science for a diploma at the German Sport University Cologne , which he graduated in 1991. He also studied human medicine at the University of Cologne . After his license to practice medicine , he did his doctorate in 2000 at the Institute for Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the University of Cologne on the subject of pain perception / pain management in orthopedics. In 2003, Kleinert completed his habilitation on sports science with a special focus on sports psychology and health research. In 2004 he followed a call from the University of Würzburg as Professor of Sport and Health at the Institute for Sport Science . Since 2006 he has held the professorship for sport and health psychology at the German Sport University Cologne with the research focus on health and rehabilitation sport, pain management, accident and injury prevention as well as state of health diagnostics. He is a member of the examination committee of the DSHS Cologne and was a member of the Senate from 1999 to 2002 and from 2008 to 2011 .

In addition to his teaching activities, Kleinert is a trainer in swimming , indoor handball and sailing .
