Jens Thalmann

Jens Thalmann (born November 6, 1963 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German enduro athlete. He was a member of the victorious Six Days Trophy team in 1987.

Athletic career

In 1980 he began to play an active part in the GST team at the MZ factory. In the first year he was GDR best in the ID class up to 175 cm³, so that in the following year he was promoted to the license class up to 500 cm³. In the middle of the season, however, he moved to MC Simson Suhl . In the following year he was already a member of the Simson factory team. In 1984 he achieved his international breakthrough with the runner-up title in the European championship class up to 80 cm³, the GDR runner-up title and membership in the victorious silver vase team at the Six Days . In 1985 he was able to defend his national success and came third in the European Championship. At the Six Days he was a member of the trophy team. In 1986 he was able to repeat the individual successes. In the following year he was again runner-up in the GDR. 1987 was also the most successful year in terms of sport. As a member of the trophy team, he won the Enduro Team World Championship in Jelenia Góra in Poland . In the summer of 1988 Thalmann left for the Federal Republic of Germany and ended his sporting career. In the following time he was, among other things, an instructor in the ADAC Junior Team with Pit Beirer and looked after the motocross drivers Collin Dugmore , Darryl Edkins , Mike Jones and Tom Carson at Team Honda Sarholz .

Jens Thalmann now runs a motor vehicle workshop in Harzgerode . In terms of sport, he is now active in the national motocross championship. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 he won the senior class.
