Jerry McFadden

Jerry Walter McFadden (born March 21, 1948 in Haskell County , Texas , † October 14, 1999 in Huntsville , Walker County , Texas) was an American sex offender and triple murderer. He was executed in 1999.

Events

On May 4, 1986, McFadden kidnapped 20-year-old Gena Turner, 19-year-old Bryan Boone, and 18-year-old Suzanne Harrison while they were on a trip to Lake Hawkins, north of Tyler . McFadden raped and strangled Harrison and dumped her body in a park about 25 miles from Lake Hawkins. She was found there the next day. He was arrested on May 6 through information from a couple who attacked McFadden on the day of the murder. The dead bodies of Boone and Turner were discovered three days later.

McFadden had been convicted of rape three times between 1972 and 1978 , but never served his full sentence. He was last paroled in July 1985. Several witnesses were found who had seen McFadden near the scene on the day of the murders. Ammunition he owned was identified as the same ammunition that was used in the Boone and Turner murders. His DNA and fiber traces were also found on the corpses.

On July 9, 1986, he overpowered a prison guard and escaped from Upshur County Jail with another guard as a hostage . However, he was arrested again two days later, after the biggest hunt for criminals in Texan history.

In August 1986, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the outbreak . In July 1987, he was sentenced to death for the murder of Suzanne Harrison . The Texas Court of Appeal upheld the sentence and the sentence in November 1993. In October 1999 he was in the Huntsville Unit with the lethal injection executed .
