Jessica Davenport (born June 24, 1985 in Columbus , Ohio , United States ) is a former professional basketball player. Most recently she played for the Russian team BC Chevakata Vologda in the 2011/12 season and in 2012 for the Indiana Fever in the Women's National Basketball Association .
Career
college
Jessica Davenport played until 2007 for the women's basketball team the Buckeyes from Ohio State University , where she was known for its strength in blocking and rebounding.
Women's National Basketball Association
Davenport was selected second in the 2007 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars . Immediately after the draft, Davenport was transferred with a first-round pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft to the New York Liberty for Becky Hammon and a second-round pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft. So she played her first WNBA season for Liberty in New York. After being used in almost every Liberty game in 2007, it was only used in 13 games in 2008 . Before the 2009 season, Davenport moved to the Indiana Fever team . There she was used regularly and her playing minutes increased, but she did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player there either.
After the 2012 season she was no longer active as a player in the WNBA. Up to this point, she had played 174 games in 6 WNBA seasons in the regular season, starting on May 26, scoring 1,148 points, 539 rebounds and 73 assists. In 31 playoff games (none of them in the starting line-up) she scored 144 points, 74 rebounds and 8 assists.
Europe
Like many WNBA players, Davenport regularly plays in Europe during the WNBA season break. Since 2007 she has been on the field for teams from France and Russia. Most recently she played for the Russian club BC Chevakata Vologda in the 2011/12 season .
