Jessica Mager (born June 1, 1988 in Solingen ) is a German sports shooter . It competes in the disciplines of small bore rifles and air rifles .

Life

Mager is a trained educator, then she completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale foreign trade clerk and worked at TML Technik GmbH in Monheim aR.She has been working as an educator again since 2014.

She began her sporting career in 2000 at SV Trompete Leichlingen eV, moved in 2005 and started for Post SV Düsseldorf until 2016 , where she was trained by Manfred Webers and most recently by Sabine Kames. Claudia Kulla was the national coach "Juniors" from 2006-2009. National coach "Women" was Claus Dieter Roth from 2009 to 2015.

Mager came to shooting sports through her father at the age of 12, where her talent was recognized and promoted. In 2005 she was the first German champion with the air rifle and third place in the 60-shot prone position with the small bore. A year later she was third in the three-position battle at the German team championships. In 2007 she achieved her first international successes and became European air rifle champion both individually and with the team. In 2008 she repeated the title win in the individual and was also third in the three-position battle at the German championships. The year 2010 was particularly successful. Mager won the team title with the air rifle at the European Indoor Championships in Meråker and was third in the individual competition. At the World Championships in Munich, she also won the team title with the air rifle, but narrowly missed another medal in fifth place in the individual. At the World Cup in Belgrade, she was third in the air rifle singles. At the national championships she was third in the air rifle singles. At the World Cup 2011 in Munich, she reached the final fight in the air rifle singles, but was only eighth. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , she missed the final as 20th of the preliminary fight with 394 points.

Mager interrupted her sporting career in spring 2016 after the Bundesliga season ended . In 2019 she celebrated her comeback in the summer at the German championships, and since October she has competed for the German champions 2017/2018, SB Freiheit, in the 1st Bundesliga air rifle. Her coaches in the new club, to which she has been a member since 2016, were Christian Pinno and Christian Klees , Olympic champions from Atlanta in 1996.

Mager lives in Hanover.
