Rike Horak ( Petra Kleinert ), mother of two children, is appointed as lay judge at the Lübeck Regional Court . At first she is not at all enthusiastic about her new role, but her interest in the fight against crime and for a fair judgment grows quickly. With the judge Dr. Heribert Koch and the public prosecutor Dr. Matthias Schaller soon finds herself in constant dispute, because her intensive inquiries and her own research increase the judicial effort. Ultimately, however, their persistence always contributes to the victory of justice.
