Yevgeny Ivanovich Afanassenko

Yevgeny Ivanovich Afanassenko ( Russian Евгений Иванович Афанасенко ; born April 7, 1914 in Gomel , Russian Empire , today: Belarus ; † March 13, 1993 in Moscow ) was a Soviet diplomat and politician of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU).

Life

Yevgeny Ivanovich Afanassenko became a soldier in the Red Army in 1941 and took part in the German-Soviet War during the Second World War. After the end of the war, he was a functionary in the Frunze Oblast Party Committee and later in the Moscow Party Committee . As the successor to Ivan Andreevich Kairow , he became Minister of Education of the Russian Federative Socialist Soviet Republic (RSFSR) on March 28, 1956 and held this office until March 4, 1966, when Mikhail Alexejewitsch Prokofjew took his place.
