Yevgeny Ivanovich Kubbel

Yevgeny Ivanovich Kubbel ( Russian Евгений Иванович Куббель ; * October 23, 1894 , † 1942 ) was a Soviet chess player. He wrote over 150 tasks, mostly two-move ones. His two brothers also dealt with chess composition .

Yevgeny and his brother Leonid Kubbel died in 1942 during the Leningrad blockade and were buried with other blockade victims in a mass grave. The older brother Arwid was a victim of the Stalin purges in 1938 .

Evgenis son Lew Kubbel (1929–1988) was a linguist and cultural scientist.
