Yevgeny Vladimirovich Chazei ( Russian Евгений Владимирович Хацей ; born September 8, 1976 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who played for Vityas Chekhov in the Continental Hockey League from 1998 to 2009 . Between 2015 and 2018 he was General Manager at HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk .

Career

Yevgeny Chazei began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at HK Metschel Chelyabinsk , for which he was active in the Russian Super League from 1997 to 1999 . After a year-long stint at their league rivals Torpedo Yaroslavl , he returned to Metschel Chelyabinsk from 2000 to 2002. In the 2001/02 season, the attacker also ran 14 games for HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . In the 2002/03 season Chazei was on the ice for Amur Khabarovsk . The following season the striker began with his ex-club from Chelyabinsk, which had meanwhile been relegated to the second-rate Wysschaja Liga , but switched to the first division club HK Awangard Omsk , with whom he became Russian champions for the first time at the end of the season . With this success, Chazei and his team qualified for the IIHF European Champions Cup , in the final of which he prevailed in 2005 with Omsk against Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM-liiga .

In the 2005/06 season Chazei played for HK Sibir Novosibirsk , before running for another year for Awangard Omsk. In the 2007/08 season, the Russian was on the ice for both Omsk and Novosibirsk. In the summer of 2008, the winger of Vitjas Chekhov was committed from the newly founded Continental Hockey League , where he ended his career following the 2008/09 season.
