Yevgeny Vladimirovich Medvedev ( Russian Евгений Владимирович Медведев ; English transcription: Yevgeny Vladimirovich Medvedev * 27. August 1982 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who most recently at the Avangard Omsk in the Continental Hockey League was under contract.
Career
Yevgeny Medvedev began his career as a hockey player in the youth of HK Metschel Chelyabinsk , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League until 2002 . In the 1999/2000 season he also played for the second team of Metschel's city rivals HK Traktor Chelyabinsk . After the defender had made his debut for Metschel Chelyabinsk in the Russian Super League in the 2002/03 season, he was on the ice from 2003 to 2005, initially for Metallurg Serow and then for the now relegated Metschel in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga .
In the summer of 2005, Medvedev moved to Severstal Tscherepowez , where he spent the following two years in the super league before he was committed to Ak Bars Kazan before the 2007/08 season , with whom he became Russian champions for the first time in the following season . After seven years and over 400 KHL appearances, he left Kazan in May 2015 and joined the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League . The defender stayed there for only one year, however, and returned to his homeland in July 2016, where he signed a two-year contract with HK Awangard Omsk , which was extended for one year in 2018.
At international level, he took part in the World Championships from 2012 to 2015 with the Russian national team, winning two gold and one silver medal.
