Jiří Halaška

Jiří Halaška (born October 13, 1956 in Prague ) is a Czech officer . He was promoted to major general on October 28, 2005 .

Halaška attended the Army College in Vyškov from 1975 to 1979 (Vysoká vojenská škola pozemního vojska ve Vyškově), from 1985 to 1988 the Frunze Military Academy in Moscow and from 1996 to 1997 the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg .

Halaška began his military career in 1979 as the head of a tank company and rose to the position of deputy commander of the 9th Panzer Division . Subsequently, he was given responsibility for the operational training of the 1st Army Corps established in Tábor in 1994 and the Homeland Security Force three years later after the command of the 1st Army Corps had been transferred to the command of the Homeland Security Force (velitelství vojska územní obrany). In 2001 he became head of the staff of the Homeland Security Forces Command (velitelství sil územní obrany), which had been created a year earlier. When this command was added to the support and training force (sily podpory a výcviku) command in 2003 , he was entrusted with the management of the TRADOC (ředitelství výcviku a doktrín) subordinate to this command . In 2006 he was appointed Commander of Support and Training Forces and in 2007 as Commander of Allied Forces. Until his resignation on December 31, 2009, he was Deputy Chief of Staff for questions relating to the planning and support of foreign missions by the Czech armed forces .

Besides his mother tongue, Halaška speaks English, German and Russian. He is married and a father of two.
