Jiří Marusak (born November 29, 1975 in Zlín , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who was under contract with HC Zlín in the Czech extra league for many years . He also played for Metallurg Novokusnezk , SKA Saint Petersburg , Djurgårdens IF and HC Plzeň in 1929 .
Career
Jiří Marušák began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at HC Zlín , for whose professional team he was active in the extra league from 1992 to 2003 . During this period he was runner-up with the club in 1995 and 1999. The 2002/03 season ended the defender at Tappara Tampere in the SM-liiga . With the Finns, he won the national championship title at his first stop abroad . From 2003 to 2005 he was in the Russian Super League with Metallurg Novokuznetsk before he played for their league rivals SKA Saint Petersburg in the following season . In the 2006/07 season he played first for his hometown club HC Zlín, and then for HK ZSKA Moscow in Russia and Djurgårdens IF in the Swedish Elitserien .
The seasons 2007/08 and 2008/09 began Marušák each in the Extraliga with HC Vítkovice Steel and BK Mladá Boleslav and finished them with Djurgårdens IF in the Elitserien and HK MWD Balaschicha in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . For the 2009/10 season, the Czech moved to his ex-club Metallurg Novokuznetsk, which has since been accepted into the KHL. For the 2010/11 season he returned to his Czech homeland and signed a contract with his ex-club BK Mladá Boleslav, for which he has played since then.
