Jiří Polanský (born November 13, 1981 in Brandýs nad Labem ) is a former Czech volleyball player who now works as a beach volleyball coach.

Life

Since Jiri Polansky came from a sports-loving family, he came into contact with various sports at an early age. Through his brother-in-law he got into beach volleyball and played for Aero Odolena Voda . Together with today's Czech national player Peter Platenik , he achieved seventh place at the U21 European Championship in Halle at the age of 18. Then he switched to his club's indoor team and became Czech champion with them two years later. A year later he moved with the entire team to VK Kladno , where he came into contact with VfB Friedrichshafen for the first time in the Champions League .

After his contract expired, the now 24-year-old moved to Friedrichshafen in the Bundesliga for the 2006/07 season and replaced the previous regular Alexis Valido . In January, however, he had a herniated disc and was replaced first by Sebastian Schwarz , then by Markus Steuerwald , who came from the YoungStars team. So Jiri was not involved in the decisive games of the Champions League and the German championship, which VfB won this season. At the end of the season of the triple win, he left the club.
