The prosopographical encyclopedia of the Palaiologenzeit , abbreviated PLP , is a 15-volume Greek and German-language reference work on Byzantine prosopography of the Palaiologenzeit published from 1976 to 1995 , which was published by the Commission for Byzantinistics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences .

The lexicon was created by Erich Trapp with the assistance of Rainer Walther, Hans-Veit Beyer, Katja Sturm-Schnabl , Ewald Kislinger , Sokrates Kaplaneres and Ioannis Leontiadis. It comprises 12 main, 2 addendas and corrigenda and a register volume. Since 2001 there has also been a CD-ROM edition and an online edition for a fee .

The work is considered an extensive source for the genealogy of people mentioned in late Byzantine documents and writings. It contains mentions and biographies of notable Greeks, Italians, Slavs, Albanians and Turks, which is why it is important for research into the history of these peoples.
