Markus Steuerwald (born March 7, 1989 in Wolfach ) is a German national volleyball player .

Career

Before moving to VfB Friedrichshafen , Markus Steuerwald played for TV Hausach and VC Offenburg. In the 2006/07 season he moved to the first team at VfB Friedrichshafen and quickly developed into a permanent fixture there. During this season he won the triple of the German championship, DVV-Pokal and Champions League with VfB. He was then also appointed to the German national team and reached fifth place with it at the 2007 European Championships . In 2008, Steuerwald was again German champions and cup winners with Friedrichshafen. In 2009 and 2010 he was able to successfully defend the German championship title. With the national team, Steuerwald reached sixth place at the 2009 European Championships . Since 2010, Steuerwald played at Paris Volley in the French Pro A league . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , he finished fifth and was named the best libero of the tournament. At the European Championships in 2013 he finished sixth with the German team. In 2014 he won the CEV Cup with Paris . At the World Cup in Poland he won the bronze medal with the national team. In 2016, Steuerwald won the French championship with Paris and then returned to VfB Friedrichshafen, with whom he won the DVV Cup three times in a row.

Private

Steuerwald's brother Patrick is also a national volleyball player.
