Jia Kui
Jia Kui ( Chinese 賈逵 / 贾逵 , Pinyin Jiǎ Kuí , * 174 in today's Lifen, Shanxi ; † around 230), court name Liangdao ( 梁 道 ), was a general and civil servant of the late Chinese Han dynasty and the subsequent Wei dynasty .
Life
Jia Kui, who came from today's Shanxi Province , rose under Han Chancellor Cao Cao from city prefect to governor to general secretary of the chancellor. He received an honorary title and successfully defended his headquarters against an attack by enemy General Lü Fan of the Wu dynasty .
In 228, under the rule of the Wei Emperor Cao Rui , Jia Kui went out against the Wu dynasty together with the generals Cao Xiu and Sima Yi to defeat the apparently renegade provincial governor Zhou Fang in his uprising against the Wu emperor Sun Quan to support. However, Zhou Fang's apostasy turned out to be a trap, and after Cao Xiu suffered a severe defeat by Wu General Lu Xun's army in the Battle of Shiting , Jia Kui had to break off his campaign and cover Cao Xiu's retreat.
After this incident, nothing is known about Jia Kui's life. His son Jia Chong later also served as a general.
