Jiayuan Electric Vehicles , or Jiayuan EV for short , is a Chinese manufacturer of electric vehicles based in Nanjing . The company was founded in 1982. The company's full name is "Nanjing Jiayuan Special Electric Vehicles Manufacture Co., Ltd" in English and 预约 试驾 in Chinese. One year after it was founded, the company developed the first electric vehicle in 1983. In the following years the research and development of purely electric drives was intensified and further models developed. In addition to in-house developments, vehicles with conventional drives were also converted .

According to the company, in 2001 Jiayuan undertook a more than 1,000 kilometer test drive with an all-electric vehicle and set a record. The test report came to the conclusion that the vehicle achieved an unprecedented range of 444.7 kilometers at a top speed of 97 km / h.

In 2008, Jiayuan EV became the first Chinese company to export electric vehicles at higher speeds. In 2019, the Tajima company in China started a project for autonomous driving with vehicles from Jiayuan. 624 kilometers were covered, 350 kilometers of which the vehicle drove autonomously. To date, Jiayuan EV has almost 100 patents in the field of electromobility.

In 2015, Jiayuan presented a 2.20 m long, two-seater city vehicle with an output of 3.5 kW and a top speed of 40 km / h under the name “Lingzu”. This was followed by the two-seater “City Spirit” model with a length of 225 cm in two versions, one with 45 km / h and one with a top speed of 78 km / h. In 2016, the company received the EU's EEC certificate for these vehicles in Luxembourg for the EC vehicle classes L6e and L7e. "Eidola" is noted as the trade name in the approval.

In 2016, ARI Motors GmbH (formerly VXT Deutschland OHG) decided to use Jiayuan EV as a contract manufacturer for its small electrically powered commercial vehicles . Since the end of 2016, these were initially only marketed in the Czech Republic. The vehicles have been available under the name ARI 458 in Germany since 2018 , where the vehicles are equipped with specially adapted vehicle bodies. These are produced directly by ARI Motors GmbH individually for each customer. The more than 24 different body variants (including tipper , flatbed , tarpaulin and box body ) are now marketed across Europe.
