Jibril Hodges

Jibril Imani Hodges (born February 16, 1984 in San Diego ) is an American basketball coach . During his playing career, Hodges was employed by clubs in Germany and Luxembourg .

career

Player career

Hodge's father Craig played in the NBA in the 1980s and early 1990s . Jibril grew up in the US state of Illinois and played at Rich East High School in Park Forest near Chicago . Between 2002 and 2006 he was a member of the basketball team at California State University, Long Beach , where he also studied communications.

From 2006 Hodges was a professional basketball player, played in the US league CBA, before he was signed by USC Heidelberg from the German 2nd Bundesliga ProA in October 2008 . Until the end of the 2009/10 season in Heidelberg he left the impression of a builder with considerable offensive power who scored reliably.

After an engagement with Bundesliga club Giants Düsseldorf in the summer of 2010 after a trial training session, Hodges played in the first Hungarian league between October 2010 and the end of the 2011/12 season: first for Atomeromu SE Paks, then for Jaszberenyi KSE.

In autumn 2012 he was briefly under contract with ETB Essen in the 2. Bundesliga ProA, but then left Germany for Luxembourg, where he played for the first division club Basket Esch until the end of January 2016 . Due to a cartilage damage in his knee, he then had to stop his career as a professional basketball player.

Coaching career

Hodges, whose wife is German, stayed in the basketball business after his time as a player and took on his first coaching position at BG Karlsruhe in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in October 2016 until the end of the 2016/17 season .
