The Jigsaw Islands (translated from English as puzzle islands ) comprise two small islands in the West Antarctic Palmer Archipelago . They are located in front of the southwestern end of Wiencke Island .
One of the two islands served as a station for triangulation measurements by the hydrographic unit of the Royal Navy between 1956 and 1957 and in March 1957 by scientists of the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1955-1957). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it that in 1959 because the surveying required a great deal of detailed work.
