Jim Moodie
Jim Moodie (born February 15, 1966 in Dumfries ) is a former British motorcycle racer who achieved his greatest successes in road races .
Career
Moodie made his debut in 1984 in a race on the former RAF airfield in Ouston, Northumberland . A year later he was able to win for the first time in Knockhill . Success came when he switched from the local Norton to the Japanese manufacturers. In addition to road races, Moodie also competed in the national supersport championship. He won the Isle of Man TT eight times. This also puts him in eighth place in the all-time list of the best. At the TT 1999 he was able to achieve a new lap record.
His friend David Jefferies had a fatal accident while training for the TT in 2003. Seconds later, Moodie drove almost unchecked into the scene of the accident, fell and miraculously remained virtually uninjured. In the following year, under the impression of what had happened, he announced his retirement from active racing. Moodie lives in Glasgow and works as a test driver for Triumph .
