James E. Simon (* 22. March 1940 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is a former American American football poker players. He played as a guard / offensive tackle with the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL) and the Atlanta Falcons in the American Football League (AFL).

Player career

College career

Jim Simon studied from 1960 to 1962 at the University of Miami and played for the local football team , the Miami Hurricanes American football. Simon was used by his team as a linebacker . In 1961 he and his team lost the Liberty Bowl to Syracuse University at 15:14. The following year there was a 36:34 loss to the University of Nebraska team in the Gotham Bowl. Simon has received two awards from his college for his athletic achievements.

Professional career

Jim Simon was drafted 208th in the 15th round by the Detroit Lions in 1963 . At the same time, the Boston Patriots from the AFL showed interest in signing Simon and pulled him in the AFL Draft in the ninth round in 87th place. Simon decided to sign a contract with the Lions. The team from Detroit put him on the offensive line as a guard and tackle. His job was to protect quarterback Earl Morall and to block the way into the opposing end zone for his own running back . Before the 1966 season, Jim Simon moved to the newly formed Atlanta Falcons. After the game round in 1968, Simon ended his career.
