Jimmy Carter (* 15. December 1923 in Aiken County , South Carolina , USA ; † 21st September 1994 ) was an American boxer in the lightweight .

On May 25, 1951, he beat Ike Williams by technical knockout in round 14 and became universal world champion.

On October 15 of the following year, he captured the now lost world championship title again with a unanimous victory over Lauro Salas .

On November 17, 1954, he was the third time universal lightweight world champion when he defeated Paddy DeMarco in the 15th round by TKo.

In 2000 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame .
