Lauro Salas
Lauro Salas (* 28. August 1928 in Monterrey , Nuevo Leon , Mexico ; † 18th January 1987 ) was a Mexican boxer in the lightweight .
He won his professional debut against Chino Puente in 1946 by unanimous decision over 6 rounds. In his fourth fight, he suffered his first bankruptcy.
On May 14, 1952, he beat Jimmy Carter and became a universal world champion. However, he lost this title in a direct rematch on October 15 of the same year to Jimmy Carter.
