The Jingpo Hu or Jingpo Lake ( 镜泊湖 , Jìngpō Hú , English Lake Jingpo, Birten Lake, Ching-po Hu, Pilteng Lake, Pirton Lake ) is a lake near the city of Ning'an of Mudanjiang in northeast China's province Heilongjiang . Its southern end is about 10 kilometers from the border with Jilin Province , from which the Mudan Jiang flows into the lake.
It was created as a result of a volcanic eruption about 10,000 years ago when a tributary of the Mudan Jiang was blocked and thus formed the lake. Its area is 90 square kilometers, it is 353 meters above sea level. The average depth is 40 meters.
It was included in the list of geoparks by UNESCO . The methane lake Jingpo Lacus on Saturn's moon Titan is named after him.
