Jinzaburō Takagi

Jinzaburō Takagi ( Japanese 高木 仁 三郎 , Takagi Jinzaburō ; born July 18, 1938 in Maebashi ; † October 8, 2000 ) was a Japanese chemist specializing in nuclear chemistry .

Takagi graduated from Tokyo University in 1961 with a degree in natural sciences . From 1969 to 1973 he was an assistant professor at the Tokyo Prefectural University (now Tokyo Metropolitan University ). In 1972 he was a guest physicist at the Max Planck Society .

After his resignation, he founded the private institute for physics Genshiryoku Shiryō Jōhōshitsu ( 原子 力 資料 情報 室 , English Citizens' Nuclear Information Center , CNIC) in 1975 and warned of the dangers of nuclear power. As early as 1995, he pointed out the uncontrollability of nuclear power in large earthquakes and tsunamis. In 1997 he received the Right Livelihood Award with Mycle Schneider .
