João Dias

João Bernardo Dias (* 1926 in Lourenço Marques , today Maputo, Mozambique , † 1949 in Lisbon ) was a Mozambican writer .

João Dias studied law at the University of Coimbra . After dropping out of college, he went to Lisbon, where he died of tuberculosis in 1949 . His only work Godido e outros contos was published posthumously in 1952. It is considered the first fictional work in Mozambican literature .
