João Paiva (born February 8, 1983 in Lisbon ; actually João Pedro de Lemos Paiva ) is a Portuguese football player.

Career

João Paiva began his career in his home country at Sporting Lisbon , where he first worked in the youth department and was accepted into the second team in 2001. He played from 2001 to 2003 at Sporting Lisbon B in the third Portuguese division and then for a year at Marítimo Funchal B. In 2004 he went to the second division club SC Espinho , where he could not impose himself in the long term and signed a year later with the Cypriot club Apollon Limassol .

In the 2005/06 season he won the Cypriot championship with Apollon Limassol . This was followed by a short stay at AEK Larnaka until he was signed by FC Luzern in August 2008 . In the 2008/09 season he had a significant share in the club's relegation with 11 goals in 23 games, and he also scored two goals in the Barrage games against FC Lugano .

For the 2011/12 season he moved to Grasshoppers Club Zurich on a free transfer . This was followed by a season at FC Wohlen until he moved to FC Winterthur . After his engagement at FC Winterthur, he switched to FC United Zurich on July 1, 2016, where his contract was terminated on January 1, 2017.
