João Scognamiglio Clá Dias

João Scognamiglio Clá Dias , EP (born August 15, 1939 in São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Catholic clergyman from Brazil and the founder of an order .

Life

After finishing school, Clá Dias studied law at the Law Faculty of the Universidade de São Paulo at Largo de São Francisco and then did his military service in the guard company, including as a parachutist. He was in the Marian Congregation and in the Third Order of Carmel. He studied philosophy and theology at the Centro Universitário Ítalo-Brasilero, has a degree in humanities from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Dominican Republic , and a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of S. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome and in theology at theUniversidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia.

For many years Clá Dias was very involved in the Brazilian Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Private Property (TFP). In this context, he also published a book about the mother of the founder of this organization, Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira .

When Corrêa de Oliveira died in 1995, Cla Dias fell out with other TFP leaders, which split this organization. In contrast to the others, he wanted to work more religiously or evangelize and act less socio-politically . He also wanted a closer relationship with the church.

Clá Dias founded the International Association of Believers of the Heralds of the Gospel , the Clerical Society of the Apostolic Life Virgo Flos Carmeli , and the Society of the Apostolic Life Regina Virginum . He was ordained a priest on June 15, 2005 . On June 2, 2017, he resigned from his position as Superior General of the Heralds of the Gospel.
