Jo Gagliardi

Jo Gagliardi (born December 22, 1934 in Geneva ) is a Swiss jazz musician who worked as a trumpeter .

Act

Gagliardi began playing in a wind orchestra when he was 15 ; three years later he discovered jazz for himself. From 1954 to 1959 he played in the Riverboat Jazz Band . In 1959 he formed his own quartet with the pianist Marc Hemmeler . After Hemmeler's move to Paris, Gagliardi played in Claude Aubert's orchestra , which Henri Chaix took over in 1961. Then he was a member of the New Orleans Feetwarmers until 2005 , after which he worked with Jean-Loup Muller and Romano Cavicchiolo. Tom Lord lists 32 recordings between 1959 and 2006; Among others he can be heard on albums with Rex Stewart (Baden 1966 and Montreux 1971) , Benny Carter / Bill Coleman / Henri Chaix (The Three C) , with the Riverboat Jazz Band , the Feetwarmers and Romano Cavicchiolo ( Remember ... ).
