Aurland, who competes for the Kjellmyra IL, took part in junior races until 2016. He completed his first races in the Scandinavian Cup at the beginning of the 2016/17 season in Lillehammer , which he finished in 28th place in the sprint, 20th in the 30 km mass start race and third place in the 10 km freestyle . This was followed by two more places in the points and at the end of the season 18th place in the overall ranking of the Scandinavian Cup. At the 2017 U23 World Championships in Soldier Hollow , he won the bronze medal in the sprint. He also achieved 17th place over 15 km freestyle and 16th place in the skiathlon . He made his debut in the cross-country world cup in March 2018 in Drammen , which he finished in 32nd place in the sprint. The following year he won the bronze medal in the sprint at the U23 World Championships in Lahti and also ran there to 43rd place in the 30 km mass start race. In March 2019 he got his first World Cup points at his second World Cup start in Drammen with 22nd place in the sprint.
