Joachim Hellmer

Joachim Eduard Theodor Hellmer (born October 1, 1925 in Cranz (East Prussia), † October 23, 1990 in Bad Harzburg ) was a German lawyer . Since 1966 he was professor for criminal law at the University of Kiel . From 1971 he was director of the Institute for Sanctions Law and Criminology at the University of Kiel.

Live and act

After attending school in Königsberg , Berlin and Elbing (Abitur 1944) Hellmer studied law at the universities of Greifswald and Berlin . The first state examination in law took place in 1949, followed by his legal clerkship (until 1953) and his doctorate (1952). From 1954 to 1955 he was also a youth judge at the regional court in Berlin. After working as an assistant or employee at the Humboldt University in Berlin (1953–1959) and at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel (1959–1961), he completed his habilitation here in 1961 and worked as a private lecturer in criminal procedural law, criminal law and criminology. In 1966 he was appointed adjunct professor and in 1980 full professor of criminology .
