Erwin Glod (born June 9, 1936 in Marpingen ; † August 13, 2003 ) was a German football player . The midfielder won the championship in the Oberliga Südwest with Borussia Neunkirchen in the 1961/62 season, the championship in the Regional Football League Southwest in the 1963/64 season , prevailed with his teammates in the Bundesliga promotion round and came on from 1964 to 1966 31 appearances in the Bundesliga , in which he scored four goals.

Career

Glod moved in 1959 from FC Marpingen , who played in the amateur league Saarland , to Borussia Neunkirchen in the Oberliga Südwest. He made his debut under coach Bernd Oles on matchday six, September 20, 1959, in the Oberliga Südwest. The Saarlanders won with 2-1 goals at VfR Frankenthal and the newcomer from Marpingen had played on half left. Other players were goalkeeper Ladislav Jirasek , Werner Emser and Horst Meurer . At the end of the round, Glod had completed 20 league games and scored five goals when reaching the runner-up of the team from the Ellenfeldstadion . In his first game in the final round of the German football championship , however, he experienced the superiority of Hamburger SV on May 14, 1960 in the 4-0 defeat in Saarbrücken's Ludwigspark in front of 35,000 spectators , where center forward Uwe Seeler distinguished himself as a three-time goalscorer. In the last four rounds of the old class league Glod came with Neunkirchen to three runner-up in the Southwest and became the highlight of the World Cup 1962 under coach Alfred Preissler with 48:12 points and 102: 29 goals the championship . His last appearance in the finals dates from June 22, 1963 when he reached a 1-1 draw with Borussia at Hamburger SV. In the last finals of the old league system on June 8th, he scored the goal of a 2-0 lead in a 2-1 home win against the team of coach Max Merkel , TSV Munich 1860. In addition to Glod, the championship eleven of 1962 also included the following regular players: Horst Kirsch , Erich Leist , Dieter Schock , Achim Melcher , Hans Schreier , Elmar May , Paul Pidancet , Rudi Dörrenbächer , Karl Ringel , Günter Kuntz and Günter Schröder .

Since Neunkirchen, despite the impressive series of successes from 1959 to 1963 in the Southwest Oberliga for the debut season 1963/64, did not belong to the new Bundesliga soccer division, Glod started the new soccer era in the Southwest Regional League with Borussia. The favorite won the championship and moved into the first round of promotion to the Bundesliga in the summer of 1964. In the surprising 2-0 away win on June 20 against favorites FC Bayern Munich , he was the left wing runner in the World Cup system that was still in use at the time. He played all six promotion games and Neunkirchen surprisingly rose to the Bundesliga. The team of coach Horst Buhtz started with a 2-0 defeat at 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga season 1964/65. With the runner series Glod, Leist and Schock the first double point win was achieved on the fourth matchday, September 12, 1964, in the local Ellenfeld with a 3-1 win against Hamburger SV. The goal of staying in the league was surprisingly implemented with tenth place. Glod had scored four goals in 25 league appearances. His last Bundesliga game was on April 2, 1966 in the 2: 5 away defeat against Werder Bremen. After the first match day of the 1966/67 season in the Regionalliga Südwest after a total of 72 league games (10), 31 Bundesliga games (4), ten regional league games and six promotion rounds for the black and whites from Neunkirchen, his higher-class career was over for the trained fitter.
