From 1960 to 1963 the player, mostly used as an outside runner, played 66 games with four goals in the Oberliga, 88 games with one goal in the Bundesliga from 1964 to 1966 and 1967/68 and in the Regional League in the rounds of 1963/64, 1966/67 and from 1968 to 1970 104 games with two goals.

career

Dieter Schock, who came from the youth team of Borussia, made his debut on the 3rd matchday of the 1960/61 round, on August 28, 1960 in a 2-0 home win against Phoenix Ludwigshafen , under coach Alfred Preißler in the Southwest Football League. At the end of the round, the team from the "City of Coal and Iron" was runner-up and Schock had scored a goal in 14 league games. In his second league year, 1961/62, he won the championship with goal scorer Rudi Dörrenbächer (37 goals), center runner Erich Leist , right winger Elmar May , half right Paul Pidancet , half left Karl Ringel and left winger Günter Kuntz with 102:29 goals Southwest. The defensively strong outside runner had made his contribution in 26 league games with two goals. For the first time he took part in the final round of the German championship. But without success, with 0: 6 points, the team from the Ellenfeldstadion landed on the last group place. After the renewed runner-up in the last year of the old first-class league system, 1962/63, he was able to make this bad impression out of the world with Borussia in the 1963 finals. With a 3-0 win in front of 40,000 spectators in Saarbrücken's Ludwigspark against Hamburger SV, Schwarz-Weiß started the final on May 25th. Schock played in all six final round matches against rivals Borussia Dortmund, 1860 Munich and Hamburger SV. The group games ended with 6: 6 points. The Oberliga era had ended on May 12, 1963 with the 4-0 home win against BSC Oppau. Dieter Schock had acted as the right wing runner and played 26 missions with one hit in the round.

With the re-formation of the league system with the introduction of the central soccer Bundesliga and its substructure by the regional leagues for the 1963/64 season, Neunkirchen was assigned to the Southwest Regional League and 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1. FC Saarbrücken as representatives of the Southwest in the Bundesliga recorded. In the debut year of the second-rate regional league, there was an exciting three-way battle at the top of the table between FK Pirmasens, Wormatia Worms and Borussia Neunkirchen. With one or two points ahead of Pirmasens and Worms, Neunkirchen and coach Horst Buhtz won the championship. The assertion in the promotion round against the southern vice FC Bayern Munich surprised nevertheless. With a 1: 5 defeat at Tasmania 1900 Berlin, the Saarlanders started the promotion round. The runner row with Achim Melcher , Erich Leist and Schock, which is otherwise always considered a back- up, could not prevent the unsuccessful start of the promotion games. Only the 2-0 away win on June 20 in the second leg at Bayern Munich opened up prospects for the Buhtz team to move into the Bundesliga. The promotion to the Bundesliga was achieved after the 1-0 home win against Tasmania Berlin by Elmar May's goal on June 28 in front of 38,000 spectators. Shock had been on the pitch in all six games.

The start in the Bundesliga was tough in 1964/65 . After the first three games against 1. FC Nürnberg, Borussia Dortmund and defending champions 1. FC Köln, Neunkirchen had 0: 6 points on the credit side. Borussia picked up speed with the 3-1 home win against Hamburger SV on September 12, 1964 - in particular their home record with 21: 9 points developed very positively - and at the end of the round they were able to celebrate their relegation with 10th place in the table. Together with Leist, Hans Schreier, Günter Schröder and May (12 goals), Schock had played all 30 rounds of the Bundesliga. In the second Bundesliga year, 1965/66, Neunkirchen could not repeat this performance. Only Schock played all 34 round matches, due to injuries and form fluctuations, none of the top performers from the previous year came close to the consistency of the first Bundesliga season. Even the newcomers Werner Görts , Gerd Peehs and Jürgen Wingert could not compensate for that and the Borussia were relegated as penultimate from the Bundesliga.

With the new coach Zeljko Cajkovski , the two goal scorers Hans Linsenmaier and Wolfgang Gayer , Neunkirchen immediately won the championship in the Regionalliga in 1966/67 and also sat in the promotion round against Arminia Hannover, FC Bayern Hof, Schwarz-Weiß Essen and Hertha BSC through and immediately returned to the Bundesliga. In the second attempt, however, the Bundesliga chapter ended after just one round. Again as the penultimate, Neunkirchen was relegated to the Regionalliga in 1967/68. Dieter Schock had completed 24 games and left the Bundesliga with the game on April 20, 1968 at Eintracht Braunschweig.

After that, he was still active for two rounds in the Regionalliga for Neunkirchen. After finishing fourth with coach Kurt Sommerlatt in the 1969/70 season, he ended his higher-class career in the summer of 1970. His last regional league appearance was on February 15, 1970, when there was a 2-2 draw against Saar 05 Saarbrücken in Ellenfeld.
