Hans Schreier (born February 23, 1937 ) is a former German soccer player . In the 1961/62 season , the defensive player won the championship with Borussia Neunkirchen in what was then the first-class Southwest football league .
Career
Schreier played for the Saarland club from the Ellenfeldstadion for over a decade . The Schreier, who came from the Borussia youth, made his debut on November 2, 1958 in the away game against FV Speyer in the Oberliga Südwest. With the black and whites he was runner-up in his first league season 1958/59 and had completed 14 league games. On September 27, 1959, he won the Southwest German Cup with Neunkirchen with a 1-0 win against 1. FC Saarbrücken and the Saarlanders were thus qualified for the DFB Cup . Schreier and colleagues prevailed against VfR Mannheim on October 3 in the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory and were thus part of the final on December 27, 1959 in Kassel against Schwarz-Weiss Essen. Against their offensive forces around Hans Küppers , Manfred Rummel , Hubert Schieth , Horst Trimhold and Theo Klöckner , Borussia had no chance in the 2-5 final defeat. Schreier also belonged to the championship team of the 1961/62 season in the Southwest Oberliga, which was able to bring the title to Neunkirchen with 48:12 points and 102:29 goals. In 15 home games the Borussia got 28: 2 points and had defeated Spfrde, Saarbrücken and Eintracht Kreuznach each with 11: 0 goals. Attacker Rudi Dörrenbächer sat at the top of the scorers list with 37 hits. His first of a total of 14 final round matches - 1960 to 1963 - for the German soccer championship was played by Schreier - his regular position was the left defender in the World Cup system then practiced - on May 14, 1960 against Hamburger SV.
When the Bundesliga was introduced in 1963, the South West provided two founding members with 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1. FC Saarbrücken, Schreier had to compete with Neunkirchen in the South West regional soccer league . After a three-way battle with FK Pirmasens and Wormatia Worms for the championship and entry into the promotion round to the Bundesliga, the Ellenfeld team prevailed with one or two points in front of the vice FKP and Worms. Schreier had represented the black and white colors in 29 regional league games in the 1963/64 season . In the first round of promotion from June 6 to 28, 1964, FC Bayern Munich was clearly the favorite in Group 1 . On the first matchday, June 6, Bayern showed with a well-played 4-0 away win at FC St. Pauli that the talents trained by Zlatko Čajkovski such as Sepp Maier , Dieter Brenninger and Franz Beckenbauer , as well as the experienced ones Top performers Peter Kupferschmidt , Adolf Kunstwadl , Herbert Erhardt , Jakob Drescher and Werner Ipta absolutely wanted to get into the Bundesliga. Neunkirchen - without Schreier - lost the opening game at Tasmania 1900 Berlin with 1: 5 goals. After the second defeat on the third match day, June 14th in the local Ellenfeld with 0-1 goals against Bayern Munich, the promotion race seemed decided. The Munich team surprisingly lost the second leg with 2-0 goals and then blundered in frustration at Tasmania with a 3-0 defeat. With one point ahead of Munich, Schreier and colleagues started the last matchday on June 28th. In front of 38,000 spectators, Elmar May scored the 1-0 winner against Berlin in the tenth minute, and thus promotion to the Bundesliga was achieved. The 6-1 final success of FC Bayern against St. Pauli didn't change that.
Thus Schreier played the next two years in the upper house of German football. The team of coach Horst Buhtz made their debut on August 22, 1964 with a 2-0 defeat at 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga. Neunkirchen also lost the next two games and was in 16th place with 0: 6 points. On the fourth matchday, September 12, 1964, Schreier and his teammates won their first double point with a 3-1 home win against Hamburger SV. In the second half of the season, on January 23, 1965, Neunkirchen also managed the only away win against Hamburg (2-1) that season. At the end of the round, the league was successful with 27:33 points in 10th place. Together with Erich Leist , Dieter Schock , Günter Schröder and Elmar May , captain Hans Schreier had played all 30 rounds for Neunkirchen. Other players who were part of the regular line-up of the Saarlanders were the two goalkeepers Horst Kirsch and Willi Ertz , as well as Erwin Glod , Achim Melcher , Günter Heiden , Günter Kuntz and Paul Pidancet in the field . In his second Bundesliga year, 1965/66, his last year as an active player, Neunkirchen took 17th place in the table and was relegated to the regional league. Schreier had played again in nine Bundesliga games. In total, he came to 174 missions for Neunkirchen.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Bundesliga, Schreier was elected to a “Saarland Anniversary Elf” in 2013. All Saarlanders who had played in the Bundesliga since 1963 were up for a vote, which was organized by Ellenfeld eV and the Saarpark Center .
