Joachim Ignatz von Rotenhan

Joachim Ignatz von Rotenhan , zu Merzbach (* 1662 ; † 1736 ) from the noble Rotenhan family was a civil servant in the bishopric of Bamberg .

Life

Von Rotenhan was the son of the Bamberg chief chamberlain Georg Wolfgang von Rotenhan , zu Merzbach (1615–1695) and his wife Magarethe Susanne, born von Neuhausen. His older brother Georg Wolfgang (1654–1687) became canon in Bamberg in 1665 and in Würzburg in 1666, but died before his father. His younger brother Heinrich Hartmann von Rotenhan (1671–1736) became canons in Bamberg and Würzburg as well as district president in Bamberg.

He was of Roman Catholic faith and was married to Maria Elisabethe von Wernau for the first time and to Marie Amalie von Truchseß for the second time. 16 children came from both marriages, 7 of whom died in infancy.

He was the owner of Untermerzbach Castle . He took over the position of senior bailiff in the Zeil office from his father and was appointed district judge in 1717. On October 4, 1716, the bishop certified that he was entitled to inherit the position of senior bailiff to his son because of his services. Accordingly, his son Johann Karl Alexander von Rotenhan , zu Merzbach (1710–1777) was appointed Oberamtmann on December 19, 1733. The two sons Philipp Rudolf Heinrich von Rotenhan and Lothar Franz Wilhelm von Rotenhan became canons in Würzburg.
