Joachim Richter (politician)

Joachim Richter (born April 2, 1941 in Dohna ; † October 27, 2000 ) was a German politician (SPD). In 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR and from 1991 to 1999 a member of the state parliament of Saxony .

Richter attended school in Dresden and Chemnitz and then completed vocational training as a carpenter. From 1962 to 1963 he did military service in Zwickau and Karl-Marx-Stadt. This was followed by a study of theology in the theological seminar in Bad Klosterlausnitz. He then worked as a pastor in Dittersdorf, Breitenbrunn and Zwickau. From November 1989 he was a member of the SPD. He was a co-founder of the SPD in Zwickau and deputy chairman of the SPD in the Zwickau subdistrict. He was involved in the organization of peace prayers in Zwickau and was managing director of the SPD Zwickau from December 1989 to March 1990. From March to October 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber. On February 21, 1991 he replaced Walter Christian Steinbach in the state parliament of Saxony, into which he also entered in the second electoral term via the state list. He was deputy chairman of the interior committee. After the end of the electoral term, he left the state parliament in 1999.
