Joachim Stange-Elbe

Joachim Stange-Elbe (born May 1, 1956 in Baden-Baden ) is a German musicologist and computer musician . Since 2004 he has been an adjunct professor for systematic musicology at the University of Osnabrück .

Life

Stange-Elbe studied musicology (with Hans Heinrich Eggebrecht ), German language and literature (among others with Friedrich Kittler and Norbert Bolz ) and philosophy at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . His doctoral thesis dealt with the importance of the electroacoustic media for music in the 20th century . After his habilitation on computer-aided analysis and performance ("Music-informatics approaches to the analysis and interpretation of JS Bach's 'Art of Fugue'") he became a private lecturer and later an adjunct professor at the University of Osnabrück and is a member of the Research Center for Music and Media Technology. In 1997 and 1999, together with Bernd Enders, he was the organizer and deputy director of the KlangArt Congress as part of the Osnabrück KlangArt Festival.

He was a research associate and head of the Institute for Musicology at the University of Rostock and an employee of the WissPro project at the Lübeck University of Music . He is a lecturer and guest lecturer at the Universities of Hamburg and Lübeck (Institute for Multimedia and Interactive Systems).

Stange-Elbe has published books and specialist articles on topics of musical media technology, the theoretical and practical exploration of real and virtual composing and making music with the computer, and on questions of scientific publishing. Under the label "Klangspiegel. electronic & classic ”he founded a studio for electronic music and experimental computer music, realizes compositions, sound installations and concerts with live electronics.
