Life

He was ordained a priest in 1887 and worked as a pastor in Manacor on Mallorca . After a farmer discovered the floor mosaic of an early Christian basilica on the Son Peretó estate between Manacor and San Llorenc in 1908 , Joan Aguiló i Pinya purchased the site and began excavating the Son Peretó basilica in 1912 . In the course of the excavations, he acquired a collection of archaeological finds and, above all, floor mosaics.

In addition, he worked as a writer. He wrote works that were strongly influenced by religion such as L´ángel de Nazaret and a biography of Saint Catalina Tomàs .

After his death, the archaeological collection became the property of the City of Manacor and is now exhibited in the Manacor Historical Museum .
