Joan Baptista Pla i Agustí (* around 1720 in Balaguer ( Catalonia ), † around 1773 in Stuttgart ) was a Spanish composer and oboist .
Live and act
Joan Baptista came from a Catalan family of musicians. Together with his brother José Pla (1728–1762) he was a chamber musician. After 1751 they toured most of the European capitals, including Padua, Stuttgart, Brussels, Paris and London. After José's death in 1762, Joan Baptista settled in Lisbon as an oboist, bassoonist and dulcian player .
Hundreds of manuscripts, copies and some old prints have survived from the work of the Pla brothers. These include around 30 trio sonatas with wind instrumentation as well as some concertos for flute and strings. Another brother, Manuel Pla († 1766), was a violinist and harpsichordist at the court of Madrid.
