Joan Nathan (born January 26, 1943 in Providence , Rhode Island ) is an American cookbook author who is particularly concerned with Jewish and Israeli cuisine. She writes regularly for the New York Times . Your books have received several awards.

Life

Raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Joan Nathan studied French literature at the University of Michigan and public administration at Harvard University ; She completed both courses with a master's degree. She moved to Israel in 1970 and worked for Teddy Kollek , the then mayor of Jerusalem , for three years . Here she became aware of the country's various culinary traditions and published her first book with Judy Stacey Goldman: The Flavor of Jerusalem (1975). In 1974, while working for Mayor Abraham Beame in New York , she co-founded the Ninth Avenue Food Festival.

Joan Nathan lives in Washington, DC and Martha's Vineyard ; she is married to Allan Gerson and has three children.
