Joan Ryan

Joan Marie Ryan (born September 8, 1955 in Warrington , England ) is a politician . She is a member of the British House of Commons for the northern part of Enfield .

Ryan studied sociology and started her career as a teacher.

In 1997, Ryan first moved into the House of Commons for Labor in the Enfield North constituency . She lost that seat in 2010 and regained the seat in 2015. Ryan was Chair of the Labor Friends of Israel .

On February 19, 2019, she joined The Independent Group along with six other Labor MPs . She accused Corbyn and the "Stalinist clique around him" of failing to run an effective opposition and of promoting a culture of anti-Semitism and hostility to Israel in the party.
