Joanna Stern
Joanna Stern is an American technology journalist . She works as a consumer electronics columnist and assistant editor-in-chief for video journalism for the Wall Street Journal . She previously worked at Engadget and The Verge .
Life
In May 2009, Joanna Stern began her career as a journalist with Laptop Magazine , where she was responsible for reviewing laptops and netbooks . From there, she moved to Engadget, where she reviewed consumer electronics products as an editor. In May 2011 she left Engadget with Joshua Topolsky , Nilay Patel and other colleagues and first founded the blog This Is My Next , from which the website The Verge emerged in November of the same year .
A few months later, she joined ABC News in February 2012 , where she continued to work as a technology journalist. There she produced her own television series and appeared on various television shows on the network as a technology expert.
In December 2013, her calling was announced as a consumer electronics columnist for the Wall Street Journal . She thus succeeded Walter Mossberg .
In 2016, Stern received the Gerald Loeb Award for her work with videos, especially her cinematic review of the Apple Watch including a cameo by Rupert Murdoch .
Since January 29, 2018, in addition to her work as a consumer electronics columnist , Stern has been deputy editor-in-chief of video journalism for the Wall Street Journal .
