Life

Guzmán had been repeatedly elected to parliament. His daughter Adelaide Guzmán de Barrios became the wife of Capitán Gerardo Barrios . His son David Joaquín Guzmán was a doctor and politician.

When Francisco Malespín took office on February 7, 1944, Guzmán became vice-president. When Malespín went to war against Morazan and the Liberal Party on October 25, 1844, he made Guzmán executive president. The members of the Partido Liberal Gerardo Barrios and José de la Trinidad Francisco Cabañas Fiallos had escaped from the besieged Leon and returned to San Salvador. Gerardo Barrios convinced his father-in-law Joaquín Guzmán Eufracio the managing president. He ordered the capture of the Malespín brothers on February 2, 1845 and replaced Malespín in the high command with José Trinidad Cabañas. From February 16 to April 25, 1845, Joaquín Eufrasio Guzmán handed over the presidency to Fermín Palacios . Eugenio Aguilar was elected in the presidential election in 1848.

In 1858 he was again Vice President under Miguel Santín del Castillo and this handed over his office to him on January 24, 1859 due to illness. On February 15, 1859 Guzmán gave the office to the executive José María Peralta.
