Joaquín "Jo" Montañés (born August 15, 1953 in Talavera de la Reina , Spain ) is a former Spanish- German football player .

career

As a child, Montañés came to Germany with his parents, where he initially played for Eschweiler SG and Stolberger SV in his youth . From 1972 to 1974 he played 63 times for Alemannia Aachen in the Regionalliga West . After the 2nd Bundesliga was introduced in 1974 , the defender played a total of 479 games for Aachen in this league until 1989. Until October 27, 2004, when he was overtaken by Willi Landgraf (also Alemannia Aachen), he was the player with the most appearances in the second Bundesliga . However, he has played more minutes than Landgraf in the 2nd Bundesliga, making him the player with the longest playing time in the history of the league. With a total of 542 league games for Alemannia, Montañés is the record player for the traditional Aachen club and one of the players with the most appearances in German professional football for the same club and most second division games.
