Jochen Brand

Jochen Brand (born April 13, 1944 ) is a former German handball player .

career

Like his older brother Klaus and later his younger brother Heiner , Jochen Brand was a member of VfL Gummersbach from childhood .

As a playmaker in the back area, Jochen Brand was the pass giver for the back area shooter Hansi Schmidt , with whom he was able to win six German championship titles together.

In 1967 Jochen Brand was involved together with brother Klaus when VfL won the European Cup for the first time with 17:13 against Dukla Prague. Also in 1970 at the 14:11 against Dynamo Berlin, Klaus and Jochen Brand were there. In 1971 at 17:16 against Steaua Bucharest only Jochen was on the field. In 1974, when the Gummersbachers won the fourth European Cup 19:17 against MAI Moscow , Jochen and Heiner Brand took turns in the playmaker position. In the European competitions Brand completed a total of 42 games in which he scored 75 goals. The number of successful goals in the Bundesliga was 182.

In the national team , Jochen Brand was used in 47 international matches, in which he scored 35 goals. He was part of the German team at the 1970 World Cup, which reached 5th place.

While his brothers were also very successful as trainers after their careers, Jochen Brand devoted himself to his professional career as a tax consultant.
