Jochen Fricke (born February 25, 1938 in Jena ) is a German physicist and science journalist. One focus of his journalistic and scientific work is energy technology and related materials science (thermal insulation, aerogels ).

Fricke received his doctorate in 1967 and completed his habilitation in 1974 at the University of Würzburg , where he became scientific advisor and professor in 1975. He has been a lecturer there since 2002.

From 1991 to 2005 he was chairman of the board of the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research eV (ZAE Bayern) in Würzburg. In 2006 he was the spokesman for the Bavarian Energy Technology Cluster.

He has made numerous contributions to physics in our time . He was one of the two founding editors of the magazine in 1970 and editor-in-chief from 1970 to 1992.

In 1990 he received the medal for scientific journalism from the German Physical Society (DPG). In 1993 he received the ITCC Award and in 2004 the Bavarian State Medal for special services to the economy .

From 1995 to 2003 he was co-editor of the Journal of Porous Materials.
