Jochen Stefan Gensichen (born June 25, 1964 in Wesel ) is a German doctor and scientist.

Life

Gensichen passed his Abitur examination at the Friedrich-Rückert-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf in 1983 and studied educational sciences / pedagogy and medicine at the University of Cologne and health sciences / public health at the Hannover Medical School . In 1999 he received his license to practice medicine .

After completing his doctorate in Cologne, he completed clinical training as a specialist in general medicine in Frankfurt am Main and worked scientifically at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel and at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . He was a visiting scholar at the University of Washington and the Group Health Research Institute in Seattle . He completed his habilitation in 2010 in Frankfurt am Main.

Since 2008 Gensichen has been a university professor for general medicine and founding director of the institute of the same name at the Jena University Hospital of the Friedrich Schiller University .

In 2016 he accepted a position at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Gensichen has been a board member of the General Practice Foundation since 2013 . In 2020 he was awarded the David Sackett Prize .
